A Canadian friend sent me a British saying, "When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and carry on." Yes. Mourn. And carry on. 🧡🧡

Beautifully expressed Stephanie. We cannot allow ourselves to be caught in the vortex of violence

that Trump has mastered. We are better than that and will finally prevail.

Love and blessings to you, Stephanie.

I'll get through the day with your strong, important words. I'm mourning the consciousness that has our country choose what he stands for and recalibrating what I can do to transform it.

Hi Stephanie,

Your email was the first thing I opened and read this morning after trying to digest the distressing news that Trump had been reelected. Your words were just what I needed to read: "Today we mourn. Tomorrow we recalibrate." Your succinct words not only brought comfort, they inspired me to write something, so thank you for both. I'll need more than a day to mourn and who knows how many days to recalibrate. We will carry on. That's what Kamala wants. Her concession speech today brought chills and yes, tears. Such a good person who would've made a wonderful president.

Thank you for your comforting, wise words. x

I forget grieving has stages. Just remembered as I passed the baking phase.

I love this. Thank you for the smile. Although, now I feel like I want to go bake muffins -- nothing like a good pumpkin muffin on a day of mourning.

We baked banana bread (w/ yogurt) the night before the election, just incase we needed something to look forward to... now it is something tasteful to turn to, a small consolation, but still...

Lore/E-Mama, I did something similar, day after election. Pumpkin muffins. Comfort food. Small consolation, as you say, and still . . . May we always feed each other during difficult times, with sweets and sweetness. Big hugs.

Between intermittent crying jags and running to the bathroom, I'm trying to process this. News is off and I'm making some peppermint tea. Truly a sad outcome as far as I can see.😵

A totally sad outcome. A day of mourning and grieving -- and tomorrow we do what women have always done -- we stand in the light of our truth and dare to speak it, skinned knees, bruised hearts and all. Let's hold each other close today. We are a circle of women and we need each other.

Thanks Stephanie! I was reminded of a Chinese proverb the other day. It goes (something) like this: The student asks the master "What will I do when I am enlightened?" The master replies "Today, there is wood to chop and water to carry. Tomorrow, there is wood to chop and water to carry." Today, we chop wood and carry water and I am thankful for my ordinary tasks around the house. Tomorrow can be the same.

Jan, what you say is so valuable. Thank you for sharing this wonderful proverb. I have a kitchen to clean up and muffins to make -- it's a muffin kind of day, Bless the mundane that needs addressing, as it keeps us grounded in purpose. Today it's one foot in front of the other. Biggest of hugs.

We need to hold each other tight today. With each other we will navigate these new waters. What women do is that we give each other grace. Big hugs my friend.

Thank you, Stephanie, for reminding us to be gentle with ourselves. We do have control over how we treat ourselves. Numb today in aftermath of election but as you wisely advise, we need to recalibrate tomorrow. Hugs/

Feeling a little numb myself, Ann. Reaching out to others and having them reach back has helped. We are not alone. We will learn to navigate the new waters and still stand in the light of truth. You are in my heart, dear friend.
